Windows Hello requires a Windows 10 device with compatible hardware. If you still want to use Windows Hello when that setting is off, click the Windows Hello button or press Enter on the lock screen. One or both will usually state that the reader is compatible with Microsoft Hello or Windows 10. To make sure your reader is compatible with Windows 10, check its packaging or the manufacturers website.
(Figure 4.) Clicking on this will begin the process of registering your fingerprint(s). Refer to the manual that came with the fingerprint reader if youre having trouble connecting it to your computer. In the area that opens, you will see the Set up button. Then you can use your account password to unlock 1Password without dismissing Windows Hello first. In the Sign-in options window, click on the Windows Hello Fingerprint. If your fingerprint sensor or camera is frequently unavailable, like when you dock your laptop, you can turn off Settings > Advanced > “Show Windows Hello prompt automatically”.
I eventually managed it with help from Microsoft Support but when the (fresh) install had completed, I was not able to use Windows Hello and the fingerprint reader did not appear to be working.
